As part of a commitment to the support of new work and emerging practice, Au Brana offers an annual residence for two companies in its studio spaces with dormitory accommodation provided, for ten days.
Applications are welcome from any individual, company, collective or group of artists (maximum 5 people) from any performance discipline with a focus on collaboration and new research.
This can take the form of:
Practical research of a new training or performance approach
An exchange of practice between different groups or individuals
Cross-disciplinary encounters or hybrid artistic approaches
A first meeting between collaborators
Please note that rehearsals or reworking of an existing performance will not be considered nor can you use this residency for financial gain (eg a public paid workshop). Please be aware that it is not possible to rig aerial equipment in the studios.
Au Brana is a residential centre for artistic practices in rural South Western France, dedicated to the support of independent and emerging artists, new and original research and pluridisciplinary performance. The studio spaces and accommodation at Au Brana are housed within a converted 300 year old barn which has been renovated to highlight its original wood and stone features. The centre is situated in gardens with public woods nearby and surrounded by working farmland, 3 km from the mediaeval town of Lectoure.
The centre consists of the main studio (120m2) and a small studio (35m2), each full of natural light with wooden floors and access to a sound system.
Au Brana has a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, and dormitory accommodation for up to 15 people. The dormitory is divided into small alcoves for privacy and we provide storage space for each resident.
A 10 day residential period is available for two groups of maximum five people between the 25th August - 6th September 2025. Applicants are required to complete an application form and provide any additional documentation to support their application.
Application deadline: 14th April 2025 / Notification: 28th April 2025
